DirectTV sent 1080p DVR update

Fri, 11/14; I received a notice transmitted to my HR20 DVR that it was updated to 1080p output. When I selected the 1080p as one of the output selections I could use, it went through a evaluation & stated that my Panasonic TH-50P does not support 1080p, which it does. Has anyone had any experience of 1080p from this update?

I know that the Directv DVR only supports 1080p/24 frames per second (not 60 frames per second).
Also it must be over the HDMI coonnection.
Could this apply to your situation?
In addition, there are some TV's that say they accept 10080p, but then down-convert the 1080p to 1080i to display it..

Yes, I found out that info. from Direct TV. I found that my HDTV processes 1080P-60fps, & not 1080P-24fps. Direct TV is prodcasting On-Demand movies (downloaded from the ethernet connection on the HR20 &21). They will be modifying their 1080P brodcacting in early 2009. So, I guess it is not too big of a loss of capibility; not enough to upgrade to a HDTV that will process 1080P-24fps. I am researching why it is preferable veiwing, if at all. The opinion is that it can be jittery. with out the 3/2 drop down fill-in.

I have watched it after being downconverted by the HDDVR (HR20-700) to 1080i and truthfully, it looks better than other raw 1080i movies from Directv.

I will give it try both ways & compare. HD "On Demand" movie download & HD PPV movie. I guess it won't be 1080p, but 1080i.

Sorry, I was only comparing a 1080p/24 movie viewed at 1080i/60 vs a regular 1080i/60 movie (llve or VOD).
