What type of dvd player would work best for a tv that is already

Post by startrek2 »

I am looking to buy a dvd player for my parents and they purchase d a wide screen tv from dvdcollects.com.so when you play dvds or watch tv it tends to stretch out the picture. Is there a dvd player that takes this into account or does it matter?

WHICH DVD Player ..?

Hi startrek2 -

It would be much better / more 'accurate' in any reply " IF " the model number / Brand of the HDTV would be re-posted, please!

There are VAST differences between different Models, let alone Brands in the way that these process Films!

And, NO, no HDTV Must 'stretch' material ... there are set up procedures within that internal menu to select a proper display for whatever is being viewed ... 4:3 w/ grey sidebars , widescreen, etc..

... a wide screen Tv ... isn't nearly specific enough.

Plus, are you speaking of this place?

First check the dvd to see if there is an option for the type of TV. Make sure it's set to 16:9 or widescreen. Second, you need to buy a widescreen DVD. If the DVD says full screen it will only fit a 4:3 display and has to either be stretched or pillarboxed (bars on the side) for a widescreen tv. Almost any new DVD will support widescreen displays.
