PS3 Interconnect Question

Post by JONJUL »

I just connected my new PS3 to my new Samsung LN52A650 LCD TV with an Audioquest HDMI-A cable. Could anyone tell me if this is the correct model cable to use with the PS3? I get absolutely no video when I hit the PS Button and try to perform initial setup. I have the PS3 HDMI cable connected direct to the HDMIA2 Input on the TV and the supplied USB cable connecting the PS3 to the wireless controller. Any suggestions would be most appreciated.

Thanks,

John

I had a PS3 briefly last year to do an evaluation. If I recall correctly, HDMI was not the default video output. Perhaps try connecting via Component or S-Video as well to ensure that the HDMI video output is enabled.

Just off the top of my head ... perhaps someone here with a PS3 on-hand can give you more specifics.

Thanks,

I've only used component with my ps3 so I don't know if HDMI is enabled out of the box - it should be. Use the analog outputs as Shane suggested to check the settings. You may also need to power up the tv before you power up the ps3 so it recognizes the hdmi output and does the handshake properly.

Hmm... I had no trouble at all... note that if you are going to use HDMI then you DO NOT use the analog cables - that means don't even plug that harness into the PS3 because it may be activating a switch that turns HDMI off.

Just to be clear, you do not get any video at all or you do get video some of the time?

HDMI is not the default. You have to go into the settings and tell it how you want to output the video as well as the audio specifically for the BD-ROMs.
