So what you are saying is the majority of the price is licensing fees, not the hard cost to produce the product?

It absolutely makes a huge difference along with a socialist industry and economy producing them. Talk about subsidizing! No capitalist company would support this - the ROI, return on investment would be too low. The only real winner in this deal was Toshiba and their HD DVD optical carrier and even then my understanding is they took a pretty good cut on fees to make it happen. On the other hand talk about a captive economy and 1 billion people!

No one ever mentioned that once the smoked cleared, the inability to record and play your own discs on the SA units somehow plays into this equation.
