Poor pic quality from DVD Recorder after installation of SkyHD

HD recordings transfer to DVD recorder

My Sony DVD recorder is a RDR- HX710. The Sky HD box is made by Thomson and has 300GB ( 160GB personal storage) hard disk capacity. Connectors are as follows. RS 232. DB-9 female, data comm equip. Aerial In : IEC 169-2 famale. RF OUT -1: IEC 165-2 female. RF Out 2: IEC 165-2 male x 2. Optical Audio Out. USB2.0. S-Video Out 4 way mini DIN. VCR Scart and Tv Scrart In and OUt.. HDMI 1.1 type A. Etrhernet
and a SATA 1.0a.

The SKY HD Box is connected as follows. Satelite Dish Input 1 and 2. Terrestrial Aerial Lead- aerial-in. RF out-1 connected to DVD recorder. Scart(20pin) connected to DVD recorder. HDMI output connceted to LCD TV. The DVD recorder is connected by RF cable to TV. DVD recorder is also connected by Scart(20 pin) to TV.

For clarity, you are a UK user using European product. That limits us because our experience is US based. No scart connections on this side of the pond. You are likely to find better assistance using an HDTV forum in the UK.

Does your DVD recorder work fine with the SD stuff it always recorded? I predict your answer is yes.

Disconnect the scart, make a recording via RF, what are your results?

Connect the scart, disconnect the RF, make a recording, what are your results?

Maybe that test alone will guide you to your answer.

My DVD recorder does work fine with previously recorded SD recordings.

Removing the scart leads and then the RF leads makes no difference.

I will try a UK HD Forum site.
