Toshiba 51HX84 DLP RP - HDMI issue

Post by musicman1999 »

Hello

I have a Toshiba 51HX84 that i have a problem with.It concerns the HDMI input, i have a Sony s-300 Bluray player and a Motorola High def cable box. When the Sony is plugged into the HDMI all i get on screen is a rapidly flashing green screen, when the box is plugged in i get about 5 seconds of picture then solid green. Now to make the story real interesting i recently bought and returned a HD-DVD player, i tried it in the HDMI input and it worked fine the whole time i had it, retried both other components and back to the green.I am out of warranty and would like to be able to use that input if i can.
Any ideas?

thanks

Hi musicman1999 -

A bit confused ... 'out-of-warranty' ... did the HDTV / Cable Box only ever work properly?

IF it might be a "handshake issue", easy enough to install / try out a (5) Component Cable set from that
"HD" Cable Box into the HDTV port...reset to that new port, don't forget ?

All Sony BLU RAY players have had to have "countless" firmware updates, with more still coming!

Sorry for not being clear, it was late when i wrote that. Both units did work then stopped, both at the same time.Bluray player has all current updates. Both units work fine on both component inputs.

thanks

Sounds like firmware from the sources. I don't see anything new from Toshiba for your display either. SAT firmware upgrades happen automatically. If you can't get it resolved with SAT you can go analog without any penalty. On the other hand you need to get the Blu-ray player working with HDMI; call Sony.
