Toshiba DLP RP 62HM15 - HDMI with Sat STB and PS3
Hello, I have a Toshiba 62HM15 DLP TV and it has been working perfectly until last week. I'm having an issue with the HDMI signals from both my satellite receiver and my PS3. The HDMI works with my up- convert DVD player, but all of a sudden is not working with the satellite receiver and PS3. These both work on my other HDMI TV. Again, the DVD player still works great via HDMI. The problem began after playing a Blu-Ray movie on the PS3. The movie played fine, but the next day I couldn't get a signal. It just looks like a pink snowy screen and flickers every now and then. The TV repair shop wants $300 just to look at it, so if there's any advice you can give I'd appreciate it. Thanks!

its probably just a piece of crap like mine
I have a 62hm15 and its starting to flicker as well. It flickers most (or at least you see it most, when there are dark images displayed or it will flicker on the black bands to the right and left when you have it on Natural picture size. Its like watching the damn thing during a lightning storm.
Its funny that it started flickering right after we installed FIOS and the installation guy hooked it up with HDMI. I have unplugged the HDMI and started using RGB, but it still flickers. I called Toshiba and I think they know something because the phone rep seemed to know the symptoms. She asked about the dark screen and then said she would be back. After 5 minutes she said take it to a repair shop, because she could not make any diagnosis.
There is also a problem with the lamps burning out too quickly. I saw it on their web site, but when I asked if they would send me a replacement lamp since this is the 3rd lamp I bought (I bought a new lamp thinking that was the cause of the flickering), she said it is only good for the first lamp.
I hate taking it to these rip off repair shops, but they don't even have a service/repair manual at their web site. Personally, I think its a piece of crap and I'll probably just toss it, instead of putting good money into a bad product that isn't even supported very well by the manufacturer.

Hi new member bravomp -
For those that can not particularly afford being " self-insured " -- easily able to pay for any / all servicing after the basic warranty expires -- most makers DO offer separately various extended Plans for up to (5) years. However, in your case, even these would not always provide for periodic lamp replacement, since those ARE normal items & to be expected w/ your set.
However, IF one literally does expect any maker to provide endless, for-free & in the home servicing, then, a Maximum Term extended warranty would be in order ... far more constructive than simply "complaining about the Mfg" after having made the choice Not to have done so.
