Need Help with Mitsubishi WD-62725

Post by Antag »

My Mitsubishi WD-62725 went out mo me the other day. I am not sure what the problem is, but here are the symptoms.

The television was turned on and my wife said the picture was grainy and wavy. ( I was not home to witness this.) She said the picture looked like it does when the satellite feed is screwed up during a rain storm. This is just the first part of the story.

I came home and tried looking at the televisoin. The dcreen was now blue and there was no input from the satelitte dish or from the DVD player when I switched to it. All of the menu items looked fine, but there was no input.

I tried the reset, but hung up for 5 minutes or so. When I turned the tv back on it would start up, fans would spin and after about 30 seconds I would get the solid red lamp light.

I just replaced the lamp 7 months ago, so I would hope it would last longer than that. I took the lamp cover off and watched it when I turned the tv on again. The lamp would light for about ten seconds, no picture on hte screen, and then go out and I would get the red lamp light again. I did the code check and it came up with #34.

I am trying to figure out what exactly is the problem. If the lamp comes on, is it still bad. I have read in other forums it could be the lamp ballast, dm board, power supply, fuses, etc. Also, do I have 2 problems , or just one?

The tv is out of warranty and calling a service tech seems like a huge waste of money after reading some of the horror stories on here.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks
Richard

We can't help you repair it. I can tell you it likely is not the lamp and needs to be serviced. Check with Mits for your local authorized service center or try NESDA.
