Perhaps one day they will even deliver in 1080p
I understand your frustration. I wish, and I so advised the industry NOT to come to market with two formats, but, as you painfully know, they did. My receiver doesn't have HDMI inputs (and it's not that old). At least HD-DVD players with Analog outputs are reasonably priced. So I was planning to get one. But the Warners issue has effectively torpedoed that option.
And, like most people, My set is 1080i so I won't miss 1080p. As for extras, if I need them, I can always get it on Standard DVD. Don't need HD for an audio commentary. Besides, most of the titles mentioned may not come out on HD disc for years...if ever! If the BR mantra of "Content is King" is truly valid, then the Starz announcement is a Royal development.
Especially since I already get more movies in HD than any disc format has provided. (TOUCH OF EVIL in HD was stunning!)
