Mitsubishi WD-57831 Diamond series sound problem
Having a problem with the ATSC sound off-air on certain channels in the Phoenix area. Specifically, ch's 3.1 and 61.1. The sound breaks up, sometimes for just milliseconds, and sometimes for several seconds at a time, but no video artifact. This has been going on ever since I got this unit a year ago. I thought it was because my antenna system was out of sorts, but just today I was able to finally re-orient my antenna about 10 feet higher and on a shorter lead, and I now have a good line-of-sight to South Mt in Phoenix. The picture quality is excellent, with no video artifact seen. I had a different manufacturer's set hooked up to the same antenna system, and also to the exact same lead as the Mitsubishi. No audio breakup was noted. This leads me to believe that the problem is internal to the Mitsu. NTSC video and sound are excellent. If anyone on this forum knows of a problem similar to this, I would like to know the solution.

Thanks, Richard, for the reply. I will contact them for a possible update. I was able to do some further troubleshooting. I run my system using the TV as the switching center between sources, and use the digital coax audio out of the TV for the audio source for my surround system. I found that if I turned on the internal TV speakers that there were no audio breakups. I switched to using the analog audio out of the TV for the surround audio source and am not experiencing any further dropouts. I still would like to get the digital audio out fixed to take advantage of Dolby Digital, but I can live with ProLogic II.
