Addonics Announces Optical Solution that Bridges Blu-ray and HD DVD Formats

Post by Shane »

Addonics Technologies today announced its Zebra Blu-ray / HD DVD Player an optical storage solution that allows your PC to play Blu-ray and HD DVD movies from the same tray.

Computers in the Home Thaater mix add lots of trouble

This is an interesting development, however, I fear that the probable complexity of playing either HD format, for me, argues against it,of course, depending upon reviews. As one of the minority HDTV owners with a Windows PC directly connected to a full Home Theater, I am probably one of the prime targets of this development. However, the switching, with a 10 year old Denon 7.1 capable AVR, already makes me the sole theater, CD, DVD, Satellite, PC music, operator. Adding the Addonics with all its probable complexity, appears to me to be one layer to many. Right now, I'm favoring 2 players as the easiest to trouble shoot and operate, and a new Sony receiver with 6 HDMI inputs. I blame Microsoft for guiding us into this swamp, with their user hostile operating system, but I don't know if the Apple I left when they canned Bill Jobs, would be any better.
