The only safe way to do it us to use terms like "over x channels" rather than "up to x channels". And/Or use an "as of" date, but that would probably be buried in fine print and not seen by most.

Maybe they should advertise this way:

With "x" package you will get:

-specific # of national hd channels

-specific # of local hd networks

-specific # of Regional Sports Networks

In addition we offer:

-specific # of hd HBO/Starz/Showtime/Cinemax channels for additional fees.

-specific # of hdppv channels for additional fees.

Cable is increasing their prices too... they are all doing it.

The point is not that they are increasing prices, but that they are increasing prices after saying they wouldn't.

If you can't fit it in one or two sentences or phrases then nobody will get it anyway.

Even their SD channels were advertised this way for the last 10 years (over 200 channels, etc.) with the same restrictions (not everyone gets the national network stations or sports channels or PPV/premium channels) and nobody cared.

As long as the website clearly spells out which channels you get with which packages then I just don't see the problem. I do think all the "leader in HD" is crap from both sides though.
