Sharp LC-26SH12U - Audio Output Low

Post by butchieK »

I just returned a Sharp LC26sh12u to Costco because of an Audio problem.

The Tv has an Audio level range of 0-50. When watching a DVD in a small bedroom from approx. 6 ft. away,I had to have the level at 45-48 out of 50.
When watching an over the air HD broadcast (I don't have Cable in the bedroom)
I have to set it at 50 Max,and even then it was to low.So then I look for Audio outputs on the TV,NONE,except for one Digital Coaxial output.Next,I try to research any small Mini Bookshelf systems that might be for sale with a Digital Coaxial Audio input,Good Luck! It has an HDMI connection, but I did not think that outputs the Audio/Video FROM the TV,when your using the TV as the reciever of the HD over the air signal. Was I wrong, and if so,any ideas as to how I could have hooked this up to any small bookshelf system to amplify th sound?
Thanks,

Flat panel sound is poor period. While this does seem unusual I can also understand how difficult it can be to get any good sound out of a 26" flat panel cabinet.

Surely you can find a HTB, home theater in a box, that has an external digital audio input. The catch might be the type of connection it has and finding that on a HTB. The site does not state if it is optical or coax...

That may be more than you wanted to spend so the next choice is get something made another company.

Low audio

I had to return one of these, too, with the same problem. Others on the internet are complaining, too. My otherwise good opinion of Sharp took a major hit. I got a 23" Samsung from Costco for the same price and it is great.

WEAK AUDIO....HTIB w/ COXIAL INPUT for OTA

Post by eliwhitney »

'Morning----
I believe you said that the TV "DID" have a Coxial Audio output on the backside ? That's all that's needed....try this.....

Get at C.C.---they have a proper refund policy just-in-case--a SONY HTIB Model HT-DDW790...for whatever reason, these have been & still are being priced at around $175....other stores will "match"....

Now, find a place for the Receiver..sort of "huge"---little bit like a VCR except thicker & does put off a big amount of heating.

Just find the TV speakers w/ Remote within the "menu" to
set them to "off"...run a RCA Coax cable from that "Digital Coaxial " output to the same "IN" on HTIB...this model happends to have one each of "Coaxial" & "Optical"...

Do the set of (6) Speakers, let it 'self-calibrate' and you are off !!
You are right about a LOT of these "cheaper" HTIB not having any proper inputs ! I couldn't imagine that some of Sony's at 2 or 3 times the price had NONE !
