problems connecting PC(radeon x700) to Olevia 527v

I just bought this Olevia 527v 27" LCD TV figuring I could connect it to my PC. I have a Radeon x700 for a video card. I bought a HDMI to DVI cord and plugged it into the TV. I am almost positive everything is set up correctly, however once I plug in the cable both screens begin turning on and off as if there isnt enough power. They are both still on but the signal just seems to get lost entirely. At one point I had it working for about 25 minutes without this problem. Unfortunately it just randomly started happening again. In between flickers the quality is actually really good.

any solutions or am I totally screwed here?

i figured it out. The video card was over heating.. one of my fans was clogged with dust.

I was too late however and had bought a new video card before i figured this out, which is only giving me problems.. the 8600 sucks.
