Without a doubt the only blood being shed is "Blu" Blood.
From what I have heard both formats are bleeding their supporters, some way more than others with Sony taking the biggest blu-ray hit but at least they have a camp behind them. Toshiba is bleeding on their own. The LG combo is not a statement of support for HD DVD and the 360 is hardly support considering how easy it would be for the 360 to switch to blu-ray. Now if they had put the HD DVD player IN the 360 making a hard and permanent investment you would have a point! Microsoft played their cards quite well when they chose sides using an external device and LG chose no one... Heck, I don't think Microsoft is bleeding at all over their HD DVD drive...

winners?

I have been of the opinion all along that there will not be a winner, and I still believe so. Neither side will give up. They each have a large enough equipment base, content library and corporate backing to stay in it.

There will be no winner, and the biggest loser will likely be the consumer ... forced to buy into both formats in order to see the content they want.

It is possible for Sony to replay the betacam error, they have a bit of an ego-inflated market sense.

I just looked at NetFlix.com, I browsed without signing in, and I quote, "Blu-ray....Netflix carries over 300 Blu-ray DVDs", and, "HD DVD..........The new HD DVD format offers superior image and sound quality. Netflix will make the full range of HD titles available at the moment they're introduced."

The last time I counted as a member, both were well over 300 and HD DVD seemed to be gaining in number. And no extra cost for either over standard DVD's. A great deal if you live in one of their warehouse cities. On the 3-at-a-time in Phx, I almost went blind from watching movies. One day each way, easily over 20 a month for 17.99 +tx.

A thought and a comment, and the ever-present opinion! from Dave

I am not a Netflix subscriber, but from what I've read recently they carry both Blu-ray and HD DVD titles. I have emailed their PR department for clarification and will post their reply to this thread upon receipt.
