DLP versus Plasma

Very Interesting responses! I'm surprised that most respondents prefer DLP. I am ready to replace my 48" Toshiba RPTV. I want an approximately 60 inch screen. I have to make a 90 degree turn going up an inside stairwell. I bought a 52" Toshiba; the deliverers wouldn't unbox it & try to make the turn unless I guarenteed that I would keep the set if they failed to make the turn. I had to return it for a smaller 48" RPTV. I relate this story because I had decided to go with Plasma or LCD. I want 1080p (1920 x 1080), which limits my choices.
Now Samsung comes out with a DLP using an LED light source. This is superior technology. The light won't burn out after 2000 hours and a noisy colorwheel is no longer required. Now, I don't know again! I need to measure the depth of the Samsung LED-DLP.
How about Plasma? I'm surprised no one is preaching it's praises! I would like to keep my budget under $5,000; so Fuji is out. HELP!!!!!!!
I guess I will have to go to the small store with knowledgable salesmen & watch the sets for myself. Damn! Where's your fairy Godmother when you need her? I just want it to appear in my Home Theatre Room. Suggestions?

Two excellent sources for detailed comparative information about the various display types in use today are from Widescreen Review magazine. The oldest is the 'HDTV Display Technology Shootout' series by Dr. Raymond Soneira, of DisplayMate Technologies: http://www.displaymate.com/shootout.html . The other is a current, ongoing series in the magazine titled, 'Display Technologies' by Lancelot Braithwaite. His third in the series is in the next issue.

Thanks for your post. One rule we have here is we do not allow one liners whether they are negative or positive such as DISH SUCKS or DLP IS GOOD without explaining why you feel that way.

So why is DLP good in your eyes?
