I have 2 of these units. They are 1.2 HDMI ....I believe it says it on the Pioneer website.

How can I hook up an LCD TV and Projector off of this receiver at the same time? I will have them both in the same room, LCD for TV, computer, etc... Projector for movies. Both have HDMI input but this reciever only has on HDMI output...

Without an additional HDMI splitter or switcher you would have to hook one of the displays up to component RGB cables and the other to HDMI...You can buy a splitter that is one in and two out and hook both displays up to HDMI that way...You would just have your receiver's HDMI out go to the HDMI splitter input and then out from the splitter to your 2 displays...Here is a good one...

http://sewelldirect.com sells a 1' HDMI male to 2hdmi female splitter cable for $19.95. I just couldn't resist buying it at that price just out of pure curiosity and no expectation it would actually work. I plugged it into the hdmi output of my Denon 2807 and plugged in to one of the 2 outputs using my 10 meter hdmi cord to my Sanyo Z4. I was utterly shocked that it worked. I am not sure but what there might have been some very slight loss of detail. So close it could just be my imagination. Digital is usually so there or not there with no gradations. There were no sparklies or HDCP hand shake problems. I haven't plugged in a 2nd hdtv yet but will eventually get around to it and report back if it works with both outputs plugged in. I would like to run a 2nd HDMI to my computer monitor in the same room, but not bad enough to spend several hundred $. Anyone else try one of these or a similar cheapo product?

Had this unit in my system for about two weeks now while my buddy's room gets redone. I was praying that a brand new technology packed $1500 receiver would sound at least in the same ball park as my now dated $7000 (list) seperates do, but alas it was just a pipe dream. The sound was hollow and thin by comparison, even with the auto mic set up.

I was hoping it would come closer because boy oh boy, is it ever loaded with some handy connections, bells and whistles! I wonder how those mega buck receivers stack up? In my opinion, power still rules, especially in HT set ups. There's no match for 400w per ch of clean power.

Speaking of clean power, I swapped out my Monster 3500 for his Panamax 5100 and damned if I could tell any difference in audio or video quality.

BTW, were you using the amp of the receiver or preamping external amps?

Splendid idea Richard! I'm going to use the 84 as a preamp only and see how that works out. Bells and whistles + the power. Assuming I can do it with that unit. It's also a pain in the ass rooting around in the back of my shelves of the built in cabinet. In theory all my cables are long enough for a simple turning of the units but somehow one or two get stuck, shorten up and make life difficult.

Used the 84 as a pre and the results were good, something I could live with when the time comes. Putting the Sunfire pre/pro back on line brought a weight back to the sound though. There's really no substitute for quality. Like I said, when my four year old Sammy DLP breathes it's last breath then I'll need HDMI for the new TV, I'll get the 84 or something else that will serve the purpose as a pre/pro.

Helping my buddy put together his HT was fun. You get to spend somebody else's money for a change and put in the stuff you want. One big downside is once the sucker is up and running I found myself drooling at the picture his 70" Sony SXRD XBR2 displayed through his Oppo 91 DVD player. LOTR was simply breathtaking, especially compared to my ancient Sammy that I had just last week watched the same movie on. Sigh.
