An Interesting AV Receiver Malfunction

Post by Dave3putt »

My Integra 5.4 receiver has worked like a champ for almost two years now, and I love it. Last night, though, something strange happened while I was watching a program on the Tivo. All of a sudden the audio quit completely. No sound at all from my Sat receiver. I changed over to a DVD and tried that, but nothing there either. I unplugged the receiver for about 30 sec. and tried again, but no help.

It turns out the unit had dumped all of my menu settings. It was just as if I had turned it on for the first time, and had to pick which inputs go to what and also had to tune all the radio channels again. I now have it back to where it was, and it has been running fine for about six hours.

I hope this was just a momentary software burp or something, and not a sign of more problems in the future. Just wondering if anyone has heard of anything like this. If not, then you heard it here first. Maybe all those electrons just get confused once in a while. :?:

Yes, my Sunfire pre/pro controller had to be reset a couple of times. "Shut unit off then h
old these two buttons simultaneously until the unit recyles on.........."

Very disconcerting the first time it happens, but when you realize that these things are nothing more then high powered computers handling a ton of info when it comes down to it, it makes sense that reboots are in order once in a while.
