Gefen HDMI switcher DD+ upgrade

Post by HiDeffjeff »

I couldn't find my original thread on this subject, so I thought I would put it here and you can move it to the corresponding thread later...Gefen did send me an upgrade chip which was supposed to make their HDMI switchers play DD+...but it didn't work...I will be back on the phone with them Monday and hopefully their tech team will be able to figure this out...(It appears I am the DD+ guinnea pig for HDMI switchers?)...

As of this date, none of the Gefen HDMI switchers are passing the DD+ signal correctly. It is frustrating, but I'm sure it will be worked out shortly.

No problemo....I will post the results of my on-going saga with the 4X2 Gefen HDMI switcher...(I will probably sell it now that Pioneer has come out with a 4 input HDMI receiver)...But I will not give up until the switcher accepts DD+...after it is fixed, I may keep it for future uses or sell it and put the money towards the new receiver.

Ok, Gefen has agreed to refund my $549.99 for my 4X2 HDMI switcher due to the fact that they don't have an HDMI receiver or an HD-DVD/Blu-Ray player to test their upgrades...I will buy a switcher from them in the near future when they figure out why it doesn't pass PCM DD+ and correct the problem.

How long did you have that switcher?

Plus I will be buying a $400.00 splitter from them...
