Gran Turismo 4 - PS2 HD 1080I

Post by Richard »

I picked up the GT3 classic many months ago plus a force feedback wheel and figured I would live with that until I found out that GT4 would be HD.

That changed my life for about three months!

So far I have played wimpy mode where fuel, tires and wrecks play no role. With the Driving Force Pro wheel this combo is very difficult to put down providing a driving experience unlike no other in the console gaming market. With hundreds of cars and variations in performance due to parts this game can go from child like to near simulation for an adult teaching you a number of things about how to get your favorite car to go real fast and keep your wheels on the road. There are about 60 tracks to keep you busy including dirt racing.

Don't forget the Logitech Driving Force Pro Racing Wheel for a truly addictive experience!

I'm at 93%, finishing the Formula race series and lacking only some of the endurance races. And that's using the dual shock controller.

I used the 1080i mode for awhile but got tired of switching cables (I'm out of component inputs on my receiver), so I went back to S video. Frankly I didn't find that much difference on my Mits RPTV. But then again I'm no videophile.......

Man have you been busy! You mean there is open wheel racing? I was thinking about getting the guide.

I am at about 26%... I got a quite a ways to go to catch up with you! After the real Indy 500 I was inspired to resume that game instead but now I am ready to jump back into GT4.

Yes, there are formula 1 cars but here's the rub: I think on day 694 you can buy a used black formula car in the used car area (if you've saved up enough money). However, at the time I didn't know about it. The only other way that I've found to get a formula 1 car is to win the nurburgring 24 hour endurance race. Thank goodness you can B-spec the darn thing - I think I used my favorite CLK touring car maxed out with goodies.

The formula series is 15 races with each race running 1 - 2 hours. I'm doing one per night, driving (A-spec) two or three legs myself and B specing the rest at x3 (speeds up the race to triple speed when the computer is driving). I think I've got 8 left.

I may or may not finish all the endurance races. I restarted GT3 from scratch twice after beating it the first time (again with the exception of all the endurance races). That's the fun part.
