The story of 3 men, another becoming a man and another entering his teen years but I did not completely catch all that watching this movie until the end. The reason is this story revolves around mostly two of them, Jack and Eli. This is a dark movie as the screenplay is a realistic slice of life which is not necessarily entertaining but makes for one heck of a story supported by an excellent cast and John Ritter in his final role.
From that angle highly recommended!
Unfortunately this movie was not mastered well and it is bad enough that it detracts from the screenplay and acting. Scene upon scene has the actors with half of their face cut off on the border of the screen. There are about 10 scenes where the actors face is completely cut off. Lots of contouring and edge enhancement. Overall it appears as if the image is zoomed in. Checking IMBD there is no info on the film aspect and the DVD is listed as 1.33 yet the case said 1.85? The end credits were in 1.33...
Due this some may find the movie visually challenging. I know I was frustrated. Bear in mind it was a good movie and if you want to see John Ritters last role which is hailed as one of his best then you will have to live with the artifacts.
I would definitely watch it again if they ever remaster it correctly!
