Deadwood - HBO HD

Post by Tombanjo »

I finally checked this western series out, now in it's second year, and wow! What a foul mouthed show! This is writer David Milch (NYPD Blue) at his finest. You need to first wade through all vile language and over the top violence, but eventually you'll uncover some highly entertaining and unexpected banter going on between some rough hewn characters. It's an interesting vehicle Milch uses to show how life was back then.

Milch himself has had an interesting career. He was so heavily into drugs that toward the end of his NYPD Blue days the actors would be reading the scripts for the first time as they filmed that week's show! He'd just make it up on the spot. It drove Jimmy Smits to leave the show.

HD. I thought that was a given for anything posted here. Beware though, Deadwood can be a tough watch. Sort of like "Oz," western style. :)

Actually, at one point they didn't have a script - he literally made it up in real time on the set with the cameras rolling.

Deadwood is great - if I could just remember it's on! Where's my $500 HD Tivo??

Not at all. This section is where members announce a new title, video or audio, that is not in the library and if you check you will see it full of DVD...

I've followed this show since its inception and I love it. My wife won't watch. The HD is spectacular, especially the opening sequence.

Next up for my list of HBO fav's, Rome. Coming this Summer/Fall.
