PS2 goes 1080I!!! GT4 will be first game!
----- HDTV Magazine Tips List -----
The Sony engineers have found a way to make PS2 games in 1080i -
something nobody thought was possible due to a very small amount of
frame buffer memory. Gran Turismo 4 is the first game using 1080i, and
it requires that your component input be able to sync to 480i as well as
1080i, since the menus are in 480i. The reviews are fantastic, and this
opens the door for other new games for PS2 to use 1080i as well...

It was the Logitech Formula Force GP (USB).
The bigger issue was trying to comfortably anchor the wheel so it didn't move in my lap.
I think you need a dedicated chair or desk/chair of some type to anchor the wheel and give you good access to the pedals.
I'll try it again if I still have all the parts.

HD for PS2
I have a new Samsung 61" DLP set with the T.I. II DLP chip. It appears all HD signals are being converted to 720P if I understand correctly. You mentioned that GT4 is utilizing 1080I or 480I. Could this be the reason why I seem to have gained very little picture quality when I changed my S-video connection to component? I am playing GT4 and went to the PS2 setup menu to make sure it was set properly to recognize the component hook-up, and to request 16:9 video. My Samsung now only will switch between WIDE-screen (stretched) mode, or 4:3 (non-stretched) when playing the game.
Am I doing something wrong?
