Combining UHF antennas

My problem is poor over the air reception of the major network channels (PBS, NBC, etc). Every channel is broadcast from the same direction (21 miles away). I have tried both the Silver Sensor (quite amazing) and the Channel Master 4221 (4 bay). Although the simulation shows the 4221 to have better gain, I find this not to be the case for my situation (as measured by my Sharp Aquos signal stength meter). The Silver Sensor picks up all but two channels in its "optimized" location. The 4221 can only be positioned to pick up a couple channels at any one location - so its positioned to receive the two channels that the Silver Sensor does not. Here is the question: Can I combine these antennas? I didn't understand the Join-Tenna section for UHF/UHF in the HDTVprimer. Regards, Mike

Your description makes clear you are in a multi-path situation. Neither of the antennas you have tried is very directional. But with multi-path your antenna will be very position sensitive. You have to keep searching for a good solution. Usually for multi-path the best solution is a highly directional antenna such as a 4228. A silver Sensor is slightly more directional than a 4228 (first null at 50 degrees vs 80 degrees), which might be why it is working better. Your Join-tenna suggestion might work if you don
