Dragnet (1987) - HDnet Movies

This is a cult favorite for me. I have been wanting to throw the DVD back in for a while now and what do I find in our program guide. In HD tonight at 8:15PM EST.

If you are looking for laughs this comes highly recommended!

HD definitely brought out all kinds of detail in the image that simply is not there on the DVD or if it is the clarity is lacking. That said it was a soft presentation. As I am finding though the sound was greatly lacking with the rears showing hardly any activity. The DVD sounded like HD compared to this presentation.

I agree on the sound, but this is not unusual for a 1987 film- they were not into surround so much then.

However- TGIF!

The surrounds are definitely hotter with the DVD which is another general observation I am finding. It appears they may be robbing bits from there and applying them to the LCR or they just may be too low on bits period to do the sound track justice. Bear in mind this observation is based on cable only with OTA yet to be tested for this aspect.
