This reflective FPD technology uses individual mirrors with each one representing one pixel. Each pixel is a tiny mirror that can be angled to reflect light to the lens or to a light absorbing area within the light cavity for black. Provides good fill factor greatly reducing visible pixel structure.
It is also the only technology to use a color wheel which can cause rainbow artifacts. This has been greatly reduced in the last year.
DLP is actually a generalized process that utilizes the following two technologies, MEMS and DMD.
