Burn-in: Some suggestions to remove it

Post by ISF Forum »

My Mitsubishi Diamond Series 55" R-P HDTV is one year old. I used the Video Essentials DVD for calibration and followed it to the letter. I have not yet called an ISF guy for a pro calibration. I apparently watched far too much CNN and now have the word "LIVE" slightly burned into the top left corner of my screen.

Are my CRTs doomed? Are they repairable? Is there a superhero Electron Man that can come and zap my set and save me from utter depression?

If I have to replace them, is it worth it? How much will it cost?

I hate Wolf Blitzer now.....

Dreadly

I can't find the thread but over at the HDTV Forum one user reported that turning up the brightness so the picture is all washed out did significantly reduce a burned area. I suggested this to a local client and he reported succesful results as well. Do this in 24 hour increments and check your screen. You can use "snow" or any TV channel - use your format options to move any logos or other static images off the screen.

Bear in mind that you are wearing down the phosphors on the tubes even further when you do this.

Good Luck!
