Who Owns What???

Post by chuckken »

I've got the Pioneer Elite VSX-55TXi Receiver and a complete System 270 THX certified 7.1 Atlantic Technology speaker system. This system is awesome! It has the same sound as that of a $8000.00 speaker system. The Sub woofer is a powered 250 watt 12 inch variety...The center channel is matched beautifully with the front left and right front speakers for an even flow across the front range...These front and center speakers each have two 5 1/4" IMG long throw woofers and a 1" ferrofluid cooled tweeter. The rear surrounds have two 4 1/2" IMG woofers as well as two 3/4" fabric dome tweeters (which are angled and phased to produce ambience without localization)...for the back speakers I used another pair of the front left and right...It's really a great system for only around $3500.00.
Happiness is a state of mind, not a place of existence.

Denon AVR2803
PSB Image 6T L/R, 9C center, 10S dipole surrounds and 1B bookshelfs for the rear
Boston Acoustics 300W sub (hand me down from my original speaker system - to be replaced by one or two PSB subs down the road).

I just scrubbed my multi channel audio set up in the bedroom. BIG wife factor here caused all sorts of problems and I just couldn't get the seating right in the middle, which is a must for sacd & dvda listening. So it's back to two channel for my cd's. Not that I didn't like the multi format, I did. Too much damn work and expense to get it right. Home theater sound is a lot more forgiving then music only. So I picked up a lovely little tube integrated, the Manley Stingray which is hooked up to a Sony XA 777 ES sacd player and is heard through Joseph Audio 25mkII speakers. It really sounds nice! I sure as hell don't miss the six extra interconnects and all the other wires and gizmos I needed for multi.

My family room has the home theater stuff. It's a shame I could'nt combine HT and multi channel audio, but the room really isn't good for top notch audio sound. I had a Denon 3805 which is a fine machine, but when I moved my Sunfire Theater Grand III and grand Sig amp from the bedroom down into the HT set up, WOW! What a difference! 400w per beats 120 any day, especially with the superior electronics that only seperates can give you when they're not all crammed into a single box. On the other hand, I do miss the convience receivers provide, as I will have to get a little amp to power my zone 2 speakers. I'm also without the video upconversion the Denon provided.

The HT setup also includes a 61" Samsung DLP, The Sammy HD841 DVD, 4 Revel M-20s and F30 center along with an Earthquake 18" sub.
