Hi,

I've recently purchased a Samsung 32 inch HDTV and have linked it up to an aerial and use the built in digital freeview. The problem is that when i watch films or some tv shows the image looks very clear and crisp but as though its been filmed by a regular videocamera, its a very shakey image and when people move quickly it almost looks a bit blurred. It looks very unprofessional regardless of the quality.

This is also the case with regular DVDs, this is really starting to annoy me now so if anyone has any anwsers as to why this is happening I would be very grateful. I've tried changing the colour and contrast etc. but with no luck.

When I plug my xbox in and play the image in fantastic. so not sure what the problem is with films?

Are you from across the pond?

Are you receiving HDTV or just standard def channels? Are you using an upconverting DVD player? Is your xbox a 360?

Im from the UK, no just getting standard digital channels from a freeview box, and no its not an upscaler DVD player so i can understand why the DVD's dont look great, but why films on tv look juddery confuses me a bit.

I have the 3253 model and the picture looks fantastic. Since your X Box looks good, I'd have to question your "connections" used.

The DVD player should be an "upconvert" DVD ($79-99)player set to 720p or 1080i and ABSOLUTELY should be connected by HDMI cable.

As for TV broadcast, even though your TV has a built-in HD tuner, certain areas get a very weak signal. The only way to get TRUE HD is thru either Cable or Satellite (and the hook-up can be either HDMI or Component).

Hmm... sorry to disagree but the best HDTV comes directly from the broadcaster. Satellite and cable apply compression to all HD content to get more bandwidth robbing the end user of TRUE HDTV - we call it HD lite...

You say TV looks shakey or juddery. Does Freeview equal what we call HDTV here in the states? Are you receiving HDTV?

Thank You for that info Richard. Is it possible that he lives in an area with WEAK over-air HD signals and perhaps he has an in-suffient antenna?

True, but weak signals typically pixelate, macroblock, freeze or you get a blank screen.
