I bought this TV on a heavy sale back in late summer of 2008. Right from the start I had trouble with it, let me be more specific.

I'm a gamer I have an xbox360 hooked in through a HDMI and PS3 hooked up through and HDMI and a Wii hooked up through nintendos component cables. Having said that I them all hooked up in sleep mode.

Now while idol the problem never shows it's face but while playing either the PS3 or Wii I get what was described to me by Nintendo as scaling noise. Both Nintendo and Sony told me to contact Samsung who brushed me off telling me "oh it's not a known issue we can't really help you there." Now it's a minor distraction I mean I can live with it but it is tacky and breaks the focus on the gaming.

It -only- happens with computer generated images not during movies.

My question is does anybody know of a way I can deal with this problem?

The TV also has an odd problem that only crops up erratically, when gaming but ONLY with HDMI through the PS3 or 360 the sound will randomly zap out for a split second and come back. It has me baffled... if there a way to fix it? I mean I've made sure the plugs are secure shielded etc..


Also another problem, I've owned LCD monitors for years now, I have several for PC monitors. They all run silently, recently my Samsung has emitted a small hum, nothing to bad just a light buzz that you need to be near the TV to hear. Samsung sent a tech but he said it's nothing to worry about but everything I read tells me LCD's operate completely silent (except for sound form the speakers obviously) Is this something I should be worried about?

I have an LN-T3253H also and really enjoy the fine ,detailed picture. However, since I don't do gaming on it, I can only suggest that you go into the "settings" menu and "dial down" the resolution a little. Instead of 1080i, the xBox360 & the set should be set to "720p". It's still HD and the "progressive" scan should play faster and smoother. With the Wii, it should be dialed down to 480p. Let us know if it works.

I'll be honest with you I'm not very well versed in the ways of A/V any chance you can tell me how you kick down the resolutions? The Wii itself only maxes out at 480p and the xbox360 gives no trouble with 1080i yet the PS3 will at times..

When I hit info with the Wii on it tells me it's running at 720 x 480 H Frequency: 31 kHz and V Frequency 60 Hz while the system is on it's main menu. Is that running in 480p or do I need to kick it down somehow and if I do how is that done I'm not sure. Sorry for all the questions.

It should be in the options - 720x480 is 480p. 1280x720 or 720p is what you're looking for. You may either choose it outright or you may have to tell it that your TV doesn't accept 1080i but does accept 480p and 720p. Do that for each video game.

I have the PS3 and 360 set to 1080i but it accepts it, the TV is just 720p Native. Would changing it to 720p make the difference of the interference in the PS3? As for the Wii.. it's set to 480p via the system I can't find any way to set it through the TV so I assume the TV knows from the input.

By setting it to 720p instead of 1080i you'd be bypassing the TV's internal scaler so if that's where the problem is coming then yes, that might sidestep the problem. It's generally better to feed a 720p set a 720p signal (but not always - depends on which scaler is better - the TV or the source).

I would think it'd have a good scaler in the TV as when I purchased it the standard price was 1299USD(I paid around 800 on heavy sale) I mean it's not top of the line but at the point you could have gone down to about 600 so I figured it'd be at least good quality. It was one of the more expensive LCD TV's of it's size.

As far as settings It did nothing the PS3 does it less often than the Wii so I think it might be the scaler in the consoles itself but I've never heard of this before my friend has the same model(larger size though) and no problems... As far as the Wii near as I can tell it's set in 480p but still does it.. so could there be something wrong with the TV's scaler or might it just be garbage?

UPDATE: I recently had the time to actually research it and found something online that the LNT- XX53H models of samsung LCD TV's have a known issue of "Tearing" Here I was misinformed that it was scaling noise, now armed with a better knowledge I'll contact Samsung, just a shame I have to wait until Monday.
