What's Better?

I was recently at a party and overheard a friend's son, who works at Best Buy, claiming that the plasmas are better then LCD or DLP for watching fast action sports. Something about faster refresh rates.
I'll be in the market pretty soon and the overwhelming bulk of my viewing are sports, such as hockey and football. Any comments?

Best Buy sales...

Faster than DLP? Hardly! There may be a point with LCD though... 4ms or faster LCD pixel speed is desired...
What does 4ms really mean?

If I was refreshing the screen every 4ms then 250 frames per second are being displayed (1000ms in a second). A 1920x1080p/60 (60 frames per second) only requires 16ms refresh to display all the frames in the second.
So what does it mean when an LCD screen has a 4ms refresh rate? Does it duplicate the image 4 times? What does this do for improving motion?
Also, if an LCD screen accepted a 96HZ signal (from a PC) and could refresh at 4ms then it should support stereo. However, I have heard that they don't (except one or two speciality monitors). Why is this?

Your question is far easier than the answer. I don't know the answer, asked Rodolfo and while he knows the answer one paragraph grew into 3 or 4 and that grew into 2 pages... He is going to complete that and make it an article instead! I'll post to this thread when it becomes available which should be within the next week or two.
