At least I think it's the HD 10-250 and not my pre-pro. Voices recorded in DD have a sort of distorted sound which I don't get on the live feed. I've also noticed that frequent pressing between pause and play also affects the sound.

Anybody else find this?

I have had mine for a long time in two different locations, no problems with sound in either outputs HDMI or Optical. Actuall have had no problems whatsoever with the unit. I use for both High Def and Standard Def. Great picture and sound. Also have a HR20-700 so I can get the new High Def satellite coming very soon.
