First time post. I just bought a new Sony KDL-40S3000 LCD. I am very happy with my purchase. My question is what version of HDMI does the TV have and is it upgradable? There is nothing in the specs and when I emailed Sony support they told me they won't tell me. Can anyone help me with this?
Thanks
Mark

'Morning---
Unfortunately, Sony doesn't "allow" software updates --------
that's , I guess, "part & parcel" of why they offer so very many versions of same sets.... you'll need to return / upgrade set to
at least their " W " series IF you need 1.3.
For their newest "120 Hz" Motionflo feature, you would need to go still more ( higher ).

If not HDMI version 1.3 then what?

Thanks, I had a feeling it wouldn't be easily upgraded but one can alway hope. So how can I find out what version of HDMI the TV does have and where I can find the specs? I am interested in how campatable is the HDMI hook-up with manufactures equipment.

Hi--
Since 1.2 and all else ( previous ) are " the same ", anything that specifically doesn't say .." new 1.3 HDMI..." should be acceptable.
B.T.W....DO be mindful that EVEN though a piece of gear does have an HDMI port, there's a dickens of a time to know / find out WHAT software might be "activated" by that Mfg... it seems that this WILL be a "boondoggle"...with these newest & greatest ...SONYs, etc.
which are now stating this...1.3... RICHARD will set us straight !!! eli whitney

HDMI specs have yet to be upgradeable by anybody. This is about hardware, the IC used, not software.
Just because something supports HDMI 1.3 does not mean it will support all the features provided by 1.3 and this is creating one huge specifications mess. If Sony can't tell you what 1.3 features it supports than I would suggest googling your display to find other users who may have products to test it. That could be a catch 22 as well since I know of no sources for deep color or xvYCC/x.v.Color so how can you even verify a manufacturers claim...
