New DVR

I just a second HD DVR, the first is an HR20-700 and the new one is an HR20-100S. Anybody have any experience with this box? It has a cat5 connector on it. From the front it looks just like the HR20-700 and has same remote as well. The tech syas it has new software as well. I had to have a multiswitch installed because the 5lnb dish only has 4 outputs and I have 3 DVR's.

I have 2 700s and a 100. Software is the same although from time to time the 700s will get a new version before the 100. The only functional difference is that the 100 has a coax optical output in addition to the toslink.

I think you mean coax digital. Denon has been using a coax (copper wire) digital audio i/o for years. Has the 100 been less "buggy"?

Sorry, you are right about the coax digital, I have never use one and forgot the correct name. Anyway the 700s don't have one.
I don't think it's less buggy. Maybe I like it better because I'm using the remote with RF on it while the 700s are in IR. The recent software download left it completely unresponsive and no lights would come on. Had to unplug it for a few minutes, then it rebooted with no problems. All of my recordings were intact but many people lost theirs because of the problem with the D/L. That shouldn't happen. That's the only problem I have had with it though.

You mean it comes with an RF remote? It looks exactly like the remotes for my H20-700 and the SD DVR that I have. I haven't attempted to program my Denon remote yet (which I believe is IR). I'll give that a shot later this evening.

Just a quick update it was a piece of cake pregramming the Denon remote. It had the correct code in the manual I am not sure that it has the "record" function however, but I can stop, pause, backspace, forward and power on and off, etc. I guess I'll be getting a Logitech Harmony 880 universal remote for the home theater as well. Just when you think you have a truly free "universal" remote they leave out one critical function, sigh...

One thing that I forgot is that the 100 uses an external RF antenna where the 700 uses internal.
