I am not going to go into the plot much. Suffice to say that Eddie Murphy was a pure delight in this film, along with many others that makes for a very enjoyable time watching this film. However, the listening was the highlight for me. I saw the HD DVD version with Dolby Digital Plus sound. Maybe the first "musical" I have heard since "Phantom". Simply outstanding.

Watched it in Blu-ray... Wow!

This is film art at it's best. From the costumes and sets, camera angles and cinematography to the actors, screenplay and music you have one thorough and well conceived film that can't help but touch your spirit, someplace, somewhere.

I find Eddie Murphy to be one of those great hidden talents who rarely gets a movie to show his capability. Dreamgirls is one of those films. Congrats!

I agree Dave... Highly Recommended! 8)

Sorry but I do not share your enthusiasm.

I am not a big fan of musicals and this one did not change that. It is just too slick and superficial for me. The movie is supposed to celebrate R&B and Soul yet we just get one broadway production after another.

The one person in the movie who kept me watching was Jennifer Hudson ... she stole this movie. Wow, what a voice!

Watched on Bell ExpressVu's HD PPV ... excellent HD PQ and DD5.1 sound!

Overall however, unless you love musicals, I cannot recommend it. Skip the movie and buy Jennifer Hudson's CD!

However, I am looking forward to seeing "Once" ... that appears to be the type of musical that might appeal to me with none of the baggage from films like Chicago or Dreamgirls.
