HDMI/DVI vs Component Video

I would appreciate some advice. I have a 2005-era Mitsubishi rear-projection CRT widescreen with component video and DVI inputs (among others) (model WS-55315). I have the Comcast DCT3412 STB, with component video and HDMI outputs (among others?). [I'm currently using the optical S/PDIF link to my surround sound system as well as basic stereo red/white pair to the TV.]
Now the question: would I likely see any improvement in picture quality if I replace the component video connectors between the STB and the TV with an HDMI / DVI adapter cable? The TV manual refers to "DVI-I Dual Link" but also refers to "DVI Single Link meeting EIA-861 standard."
Thank you in advance for any suggestions and comments.
