DLP LAMP

I have the Samsung HLP series DLP rear projection set that I purchased just over 2 years ago. I don't know exactly when I will need to replace the lamp, but I know it could happen at any time at this point. My concern is that when I do replace the lamp, what happens to all the settings? (contract, brightness, color level, greyscale, etc.) Right now, in my opinion my picture quality is very good. Do I lose all this because the lamp is replaced. I once contacted Samsung's tech dept., and they told me that I should write down all my setting spec's. That didn't sound right with me. What is the truth abount these replacement lamps? I'm a little apprehensive about this. Can someone advise me on this and make me more comfortable when the time comes for replacement.

On a furture note, does it make sence for me to order a replacement lamp now, and just hold on to it and be ready for when the time comes to replace the old one.
What happens if the lamp is defective. There must be a warranty on these lamps.
Just imagine, I decide to have my set professionally caibrated, and then the lamp goes. What happens then? An experienced response would be very much appreciated.

You are covered! Changing the lamp WILL NOT change anything except the light output because... it's brighter, it's new!

I have pondered on that one myself...

Dunno what to say... there is always that risk if you buy now yet once it blows you will be down for a couple of days if you don't have it...

If you get a backup lamp, use it for the length of the warranty which is usually 90 days.
