I've been avidly following the developments concerning Paramount's re-master and re-release of all of the original Star Trek episodes. And based on this partial carriage list and decisionmark's program guides, it would appear that the re-mastered series is to be broadcast on WSB Sundays at 2:35 a.m.! beginning September 17th.

Although the re-mastering process from film supposedly resulted in a HiDef result (though reportedly still in 4:3 aspect ratio), the reports are that Pathfire, the syndication distribution company, does not currently have the capability of delivering syndicated programs in HiDef, whether it's Star Trek or any other program. And there have been further reports that most broadcasters have either limited or no ability to store HiDef programs for subsequent broadcast.
With as many years as programs have been broadcast in HiDef, this seems incredulous to me. I've noticed that the re-broadast of many prime time HiDef programs is in standard definition, but I hadn't fathomed that a lack of local storage capaility could be the reason. Can this still be a problem after all this tme?
It's been said that the re-mastered Trek series is better looking even in standard definition. But it seems crazy to not make such material available in the best possible presentation.
