Hdmi 1.3 Compatibility

Does anyone know if I would buy an HD-DVD player now with hdmi 1.1 now and then upgrade to a new player with hdmi 1.3 is it compatible with the same wire that I am using now? and if the HD-TV is 1.1 and the player is 1.3 are there any problems coming from this?

The quick answer is 1.1 is fully compatible with 1.3 and you can use the same cables. You do not gain additional features or capability over 1.1.
A 1.1 display will only accept 1.1 features and capability from a 1.3 source.
