I'm a new HDTV user. I have a Phillips HDTV with an integrated digital receiver. My question is, "Will my DVD with two 100 watt speakers play sound from the TV?" It plays great while watching a DVD on the TV. And the sound is awesome, but I want to listen to the TV through the DVD speakers. Can I purchase an HDMI harness? My set has the attachment and so does the DVD palyer. It just and expensive harness. I want to watch CBS's CSI Miami on the TV but hear sound over the DVD speakers live no DVR. The DVD has a function button marked TV. Can I listen to live DTV through the DVD?

It's Steve the tech disaster. I checked the model #'s. The TV is a Phillips # 30PW9110D/37 and the DVD is a Sanyo # DWM 1000M. The TV was manufactured in 11/05 and the DVD 07/01. I want the tv to play through the dvd's speakers.

Found the TV but the model for the Sanyo will not show up - please recheck. Looking for the number that is on the back of the unit.
It sounds like this is a home theater in a box product where the speakers come with it and you hook them up to the DVD player? Most of these have an aux input just for the purpose you want. You would connect the monitor out connections for audio from the display to that input and then switch the Sanyo to that. It appears this TV has an optical digital audio output and if the Sanyo has one of those for an input use that instead for better sound.

Richard:
The dvd says sanyo model # DWM-1000M but also has a white sticker that says P1718358 M. I've found the aux hook-ups. They're red and white and say aux/tv under them on the dvd. On the tv however I have 4 sets of red and white hook-ups. One says AV1, one says AV2. These are also accompanied by a yellow hook-up. Another one says digital- It has red, white and orange, and the last one on the side of the tv doesn't say anything at all, but has red, white, and yellow.
Thinking I'm close to success,
Steve

Doesn't sound hopeful... There should be another very different looking connection that will appear flush with the cabinet; that would be your digital optical output. You'll need the same as an input on your HTB, home theater in a box, unit.

I don't see much in the way of inputs.

That is too strange because I searched that site and that NEVER popped up...
Thanks Bobby.
Steve,
To be frank there is not much to be expected with this as it does not even qualify as HTB... It is stereo. Now don't get me wrong, I am sure it works and you may be happy overall but already you are running into limitations. Even a bottom of the line starting A/V receiver with some matched 5 channel speakers would get you so much further if you can make the investment... At minimum I recommend a three channel system in our multichannel world due how things get dicey when all the channels are down mixed into two for stereo.
