This new edition stars Tom Cruise as Ray, our man on the scene trying to survive the invasion. Kudos to Speilberg for taking the elements of the original HG Wells story and properly twisting them into our time frame. The cinematography is gritty and grainy with artistic effect throughout; an expression of art that I did not care for. The acting, screenplay, direction and DTS sound is top notch putting the viewer directly in touch with the reality of this human disaster and the battle for survival.

Highly Recommended!

They used that hand held "you are there" camera through out. I'm not crazy about it either, and I also didn't like Cruise in the lead, but I did enjoy the film.

I have not seen the DVD, but I did see on the big screen where I think it is probably best seen. Even though I have heard mixed reviews of this movie , I really enjoyed it!
