I'm considered a "hard-core" gamer.
IGN has the best coverage on the net. To use some of their cheats, FAQ's, & guides you must be an Insider. Some of it is free.

IGN also has very active message boards.
GameSpot is also another good source.

GameRankings is a great site to see what the "buzz" of a game is. It also shows all scores from reviews (magazine & net).

A word of warning - many of the users on the boards are 13-17 so you will see alot of teh kiddie and ownz type posts. Just weed through them to get the great information.
