I don't know if this has been posted, but I thought it was worthy of posting as the battle continues. I am opting for HD-DVD and this latest development from Toshiba might just put the final nails in the coffin of this on going battle.

Blue Ray is far superior to HD-DVD in everything that I've seen, just as we'd expect from a Panasonic-supported format. But since Sony is doing such a great job at pushing HD-DVD, Blue Ray is losing the battle.

If you truly want the best picture possible, don't support HD-DVD!

I think you're a little mixed up here. Sony is backing Blu-Ray, not HD-DVD.

No prob, we all do it. I do think the author of the aritcle you posted is a little off base.
He may not care about backwards compatibility, but 99% of the DVD owning public does. This is not like the days of VHS to DVD, where we tossed our tapes because DVD was better. VHS was around for over 20 years and the public was more than ready for a better format. Most consumers, except we videophiles, are happy with DVD in its current state and will not embrace dumping their DVD collection for HD-DVD or Blu-Ray.

All I know is, I can't wait to hold my 2005 christmas present! Go here to see a picture. I'm already thinking HD-DVD mega changer!
