This is the story of a french policeman, Nestor, who is too honest for his job which gets him fired. During all this he falls in love with Irma La Douce, a high class street walker, who he intends to get off the street so he can have her all to himself which is just fine with Irma. In order to do so though requires an extravagant plan in which he pretends to be a rich man, Lord X, seeking only her company while paying her enough money so she needs no other clients leaving all of her to Nestor.

Originally this was a Broadway musical but in this version the music is dumped for a screenplay that resembles little of the original per some research that was done in making a decision to watch this movie.

Pros
The acting is fantastic with both Shirley MacLaine and Jack Lemmon at some of their best performances. The sets and cinematography as delivered by this HD master are fantastic.

Cons
The screenplay is outdated and simply borders on the ridiculous so many times we wondered why are we watching.

Conclusion?
Unless you are a film buff or fan of the cast this one is best left skipped in terms of sheer entertainment.
