FPD means fixed pixel display such as plasma, LCD, DLP and DiLA. These displays have only one native scan rate as defined by the horizontal and vertical pixel count. Any other scan rate must be converted for you to see an image.
CRT projection front or rear is the only technology that can morph to different scan rates and resolution requirements allowing you to bypass the conversion process for an artifact free image.
