TV on but no input - Extending CRT Life

I own a Toshiba 57HDX82. The other night I after was watching my ReplayTV late I turned off the Replay but forgot to turn the TV itself off (I had nodded off, so I was kind of groggy.) The screen was black so I didn't realize the set was on. I didn't find out the set was on till I got home from work the next evening, so the TV was on for about 16 hours with no input.
Does this have a impact on the CRT's? Does the screen being black due to no input lessen the "hours" of use?

This will not hurt the CRT's. Use this if you are cycling power to the TV more than 2 times a day. That means don't turn it off and just put it on an empty input so you get the black screen. When you are ready to watch go to the active input. Cycling the power constantly is hard on the heaters in the CRT's. DO NOT do this if the screen is not completely blank. Don't want video-1, ect., burned into your tubes! You must have any video muting feature turned off or you will just get a blue screen which will only cook the blue tube - very bad.
I don't want everybody to think they should leave the TV on all the time. Cycling the power twice a day is fine. Three times is a Hmmm and 4 times is worthy of concern.
A typical day for me is I come home and the turn the TV on for a blank screen so it will be ready later for viewing. I might watch for an hour or two. I then switch it back to a blank screen. Then I will watch it again later. Maybe one day I need to check something out in the afternoon. I turn it on do the work and then switch it to a blank screen since I will be using it later anyway. We are going out to dinner. I leave the TV on and switch it to a blank screen.
Again, just try to keep it at 1-2 cycles a day if possible.
