Mitsubishi DLP RP WD62725 - colorful static issue

I have an older model dlp that gets this static in a vertical band. It seems to cycle too ... comes and goes in cycles of about 1.5 seconds. There's also one small rectangular patch of it that seems to persist at all times.
Up close, it appears to be effecting individual "pixels".
I had it unplugged for a few days and when I turned it back on, it was gone. It reappeared slowly, however, over the course of several hours.
Attached is a picture with no signal so you can see it clearly. It seems to be progressive,having gotten much worse over the last few weeks.
Any ideas?
