chuckken...I'm happy to twist your arm! Now it looks as though you are twisting mine....I "love" Harrison Ford Movies...And I also love just about anything with Tommy Lee Jones in it..."US Marshalls" and "The Fugitive" are on top of the heap. And now you have me excited to run down and buy "The Fugitive" .... Crap, Best Buy closes at 900PM so I'll have to wait till tomorropw to see it. Glad to hear you like the 74TXvi, it's a cheaper build than your 59TXi but cranks out every bit as much power...And as you heard, the HDMI DD+ is worth the bucks alone. Also, let me know what you think about the Panny Projector after you dial it in...enjoy!

Check out these speakers when you get a chance...For around 3 G they are a great bargain...They are a Canadian Company.

chuckken wrote:Oh, forgot to mention...."The Fugitive" is incredible on the DD+ especially the scene in the sewer under the bridge just before he jumps off.....The sound of the water in the sewer is incredible!...check it out, if you haven't already. :D
chuckken...I went ahead and bought "The Fugitive" and watched it last night...What a pleasure to see it in HD with DD+....You"re right, the sound of the water in the sewer under the tunnel was music to my ears.... :D

Hey, I'm new to the forum but, I wanted to ask you guys a question. Those with the 74TXVi and the HD-A1. It seems as though I'm the only one who has encountered a problem with communication between the HDMI inputs of the 74TXVi and the HD-A1. I tried plugging the HDMI cable going from my projector to the HD-A1, with no problem.... picture comes up, looks gorgeous but, I am stuck with no sound that way... unless I go spdif. But, while that's fine and dandy, I can't use any other equipment that was hooked up to my receiver.

Every time I try to load up a disk, I get the HDMI ERROR 1 message... What are you guys doing to make it work? I guess is my question.

Here's how I have my equipment linked. HD-A1 -> HDMI to HDMI -> Elite 74TXVi -> HDMI to HDMI -> Panasonic AE900. Does it matter what kind of settings I have my HDMI on? HDMI AMP or HDMI PASSTHROUGH.

Really frustrating because I can get the player to work just fine with component and spdif....

I have the same set up. I have the Panasonic 900U and the 700U as well as 2 Pioneer Elite HDMI receivers...VSX-84TXSi and the VSX-74TXvi....No problems at all. sometimes I get the HDMI error, but then I just hit "play" and all is well. I have hooked both projectors to both receivers and experimented with different scenereos, but no problems playing the HD-A1...Maybe you have a bad Toshiba player?

Thanks for the reply! It seems as though the HDMI firmware in the Pioneer Elite needed to be upgraded. I purchased the 74TXVi when it first came out so, it's got earlier firmware.

My unit is currently in the shop for the firmware upgrade but, once I get it back I am hoping that my problems will be solved! I will post back when I have some results!!

Further info, if anyone else is getting HDMI Error 1 and going through a Pioneer Elite VSX-74TXVi, then definitely call up Pioneer and see where the nearest Service repair shop is that will be able to do the firmware upgrade!
