Just how is Mitsubishi "handling this problem"?
I have a WD-62825, and it has now "died" for the third time. Each time....I get the blinking green light of death.
*The first time, all the capacitors were replaced, a new DM module was installed, a new FMT module was installed, and ultimately a rebuild chassis was installed.
*The second time, the caps on the power board were replaced.
*The third time....I am in the middle of it right now.
Am I reading into your comment that Mitsubishi is now addressing their design issue? And if so, what are you seeing that they are doing?
Any and all insights would be appreciated. THANKS!

class action suit
I just sent my information to [email protected]
I bought a WD52631 in October 2006, first bulb out April 2007.
It has been a continuous round of 2-3 lamps a year.
The last one blew in 2 months, & I stopped using the TV
I decide to buy a new lamp with new housing for Xmas @ $135.
Never got a picture, the yellow lamp light kept flashing, then we smelled something burning from inside the TV.
We couldn't get the light to stop flashing, even after pulling out the plug.
We put the TV outside & went to Best Buy to buy a new TV.
I paid $2500 for this worthless piece of crap & at least $1000 in replacement lamps. This company sucks. A former employee posted that Mitsubishi was well aware of the problem & they advised CSR's to give us complainers the runaround, promising manager call backs that never happened. He published the direct line to the President!
I also read that some had their warranty extended to cover a fix to the design f'law that is causing the lamps to burn out. It's not right that some got this, without advising all of us who completed warranty info when we called for the initial bulb replacement.
I wouldn't buy a toilet plunger with a Mitsubishi name attached to it.

If the core of your lawsuit is lamp replacement you don’t have a chance unless you have receipts proving that all of your lamps were purchased directly from Mits. All the info you have provided implies that is not the case.
The biggest problem with lamp based micro-displays is the aftermarket lamp providers! In my experience they don’t save you money because their lamps fail prematurely, won’t reliably fire, wrong color, low light output, more often than not leading to frustration and a final conclusion to replace the product when that was really not necessary.
BTW, if you find there really is a class action lawsuit out there please let us know.
Two points, minimize power cycles and get the OEM directly from the manufacturer. It has been a continuous round of 2-3 lamps a year.

Since you went out of your way to state new housing that implies you have been using bare lamp replacements from the aftermarket. At $135, the lamp you just purchased is still not OEM from Mitsubishi because the current price is $179 and I know it was even higher in the past.I decide to buy a new lamp with new housing for Xmas @ $135.
It is possible the aftermarket lamp has caused another failure.Never got a picture, the yellow lamp light kept flashing, then we smelled something burning from inside the TV.
There is no technical bulletin from Mitsubishi or change in the lamp housing to support your statement.I also read that some had their warranty extended to cover a fix to the design f'law that is causing the lamps to burn out.

MITSUBISHI TV DLP WD-Y657 COMPLAINT
We have a Mitsubishi TV DLP WD-Y657, 65 inch paid $1800.00 in September 2007. Everything is falling apart. We called Mitsubishi for support and then were told to have repair man come out and take a look at it for an estimate of $105.00 for a 5 minute visit by a Sears Service Tech, who said ALL Mitsubishi's DLP are failing. We also are having problems with the Optical Block/Light Engine, have white dots on the screen. For the price the TV should last a lot longer. The part costs, plus installation will be $1600.00! for a new light engine. Any support will be greatful. Thank you.

In July of 2007 we purchased a Mitsubishi WD57733 (57" dlp) and a two-year extended warranty. The extended warranty of course ran out and we declined to continue it. I had to replace the lamp in November of 2010 (which was no problem), however, we just started noticing white and black pixel dots on the screen (just a few for now). We've had the set for little more than 3 1/2 years; is there a Mitsubishi-based repair program for the white and black pixel problem (that they're willing to spring for), or is the repair bill on us??

Re: Mitsubishi DLP RP class action lawsuit info
When I first read that there was going to be a class action suit against Mitsubishi, I was ecstatic, but then I read all this.
What isn't fair is that it is not a single type tv; they have a huge reputation for making faulty t.v.'s! HOW do they get by with it!
We bought ours in 2008 at a quality t.v. store. My husband was becoming very ill. We needed one that would last the rest of our lives, and we were told this was "the one to buy", because we would have very little trouble replacing the bulb, which would be its only problem ever. The one we purchased was on clearance, apparently because - like computers - a new one was replacing it, but this was was still a great tv. (Yeah right, Ha!) Now we're in everybody else's delimma.
WHY can't there be a class action suit against Mitsubishi based on their putting out faulty t.v.'s, period? They keep getting by with basically doing nothing.
What is a better class of t.v.'s? I always thought it was Mitsubishi and Sony. Maybe I'm wrong? I know I'm NEVER buying another Mitsubishi ever again!
