Absolutely not. The HDMI cable is similar to your ethernet cable on your computer. If you're looking at photos on the internet - does the quality change with the quality of your ethernet cable? Of course not. It's digital. You either have the signal or you don't - it doesn't change based on the electrical properties of the cable.

Yes, it is definitely the auto-motion controls that gives the type of image you are describing. If you set the blur reduction to 10 and judder reduction to 0, then the 3-D "video" look will change to the more standard image that most are used to.
